50 Things a Buyer’s Agent Does

In light of the current media coverage on significant class action lawsuits concerning real estate commissions, it’s important to understand the value that a Buyer’s agent and Buyer Representation bring to your home purchase.

Don’t be misled by the ridiculous depiction of real estate agents on reality television shows; a proficient buyer’s representative does far more than merely unlock doors or drive an expensive vehicle. A competent buyer’s agent, equipped with experience, expertise, negotiation skills, and savvy, ensures that you stay informed and confident throughout the home buying process, protects your interests, and promotes an orderly and stress-free experience.

An agent/broker representing YOU in the transaction has a fiduciary duty. What exactly does this mean? Fiduciary duties include duty of care, loyalty, good faith, confidentiality, prudence, and disclosure. A fiduciary must put their clients’ interests ahead of their own, and is both legally and ethically bound to act in the clients’ best interests.

It’s important for my clients to understand this important component of our relationship, as it’s often overlooked in our industry. When we meet for your Buyer Consultation, we will review the specific duties and services that I will provide to you, along with the Buyer Representation Agreement that puts everything in writing.

In the interim, I invite you to check out, “50 Things a Buyer’s Agent Does”, below, to familiarize yourself with what you can expect from a true Buyer’s Agent.
